Glitch hop, this is Slovakia. Slovakia, this is glitch hop. Bene & Stratasoul welcome you.

    2010 - 07.23

Bene & Stratasoul are joining Foolk on the scene representing Slovakia’s glitch music. And they’re doing a damn good job.

These guys are laying down some sweet beats and sick flow. Get their album “Slovenčina pre samoukov” (Slovakian for the Self-Taught) at bandcamp http://benestratasoul.bandcamp.com.

Glitch.CZ Podcast Episode I: Foolk and Shipwrek

    2010 - 04.06

    Glitch.CZ Podcast

This is the first episode of a monthly podcast featured on Glitch.CZ. The format includes two musicians, always from two different continents, each playing an approximately 15 to 30 minute set. We hope this podcast will help spread awareness of diverse and emerging musical talents around the world.

This month features the Slovakian producer and monome masher, Foolk. Plus, an exclusive never before heard live set by San Fransisco’s Shipwrek, featuring material from his upcoming release titled ‘Ink’. An interview with Shipwrek follows his performance.

    Foolk

The Slovakia-born experimental music producer Dusan Vanco, has been working under the alias Foolk since 2007. His Music is like a colorful trip through layers of micro-sampling, cut beats, electronic soundscapes and intentional sound destruction. From his live sets you can expect a ton of sampling, beat cutting, and wonky experimentation with his Monome.

    Shipwrek

Shipwrek’s first release titled ‘Journal’ is a journey through the enchanted mundane. Having sampled everything from a forest’s wind to whistling strangers in a back-ally, Shipwrek has imbued his music with something intensely powerful. Experiences, thoughts, and feelings were recorded in a process he refers to as “music journaling”. Because of this, every track is like being on the verge of a new discovery yet simultaneously, there is a gentle familiarity.

Paper Breath mixed by Paus Akid

    2010 - 01.30

Paper Breath by Starpause on Mixcloud

Here’s a great set for those winter nights by Paus Akid (Starpause). A number of fantastic tracks dropped in this mix including music by Robot Koch, Foolk, and I Cactus. And what ever happened to Khonner anyway? ‘For your broken heart‘ is one of my favorite EPs of all time.

Glitch.CZ presents Foolk, DJ Lixx, tvprodukt, Ingtzi and Claviq @ Brick Bar – January 16th, 2010

    2010 - 01.02

What a show we’ve got lined up for you! Foolk is coming all the way from Bratislava to promote his Lush Hour EP and play a live wonky dance set in Prague. DJ Lixx will be traveling and performing along his side. Foolk, armed with his trusty monome and his sidekick DJ Lixx, with his artful scratches, will put together a glorious cacophony at the Brick Bar. That’s not to say that DJ Lixx can’t hold his own. Recognized as the best Slovak Drum&Bass DJ of 2008, DJ Lixx will also be mixing up styles ranging from the experimental to the minimal.

We got such a great response from tvprodukt‘s performance a few months ago that it was a given we’d see him back at Glitch.CZ. And we can’t forget Claviq, who has tendency to rip up the stage beyond recognition. And to tie the night together we’ll have an original visual display by FiveToTwelve!

    Don’t Miss Out! It’s 2010!

An exclusive taste of Foolk’s Lush Hour EP

    2009 - 11.23

    foolk_main

GLITCH.CZ is very fortunate to have received a pre-release of Foolk’s latest EP titled Lush Hour. I’d like to share an exclusive track with you and it’s damn hard selecting just one. It would be a misfortune to label the entire EP as experimental hip hop, although it’s probably the most appropriate “box”. Just one track or one genre won’t capture the variety of this release.  Lush Hour progresses naturally from IDM to hip hop; from harder breaks to pop; from bass to jazzy piano rolls.

Lush Hour will be officially released on the label 56STUFF on December 1st. Foolk is also offering a free download at foolk.net on the same day.

Come listen Foolk live at the Brick Bar in Janaury! More info on the way.
