For the second year in a row, the Horizons: Perspectives on Psychedelics conference has invited MAPS to host a benefit and networking event for friends, allies, and local supporters.
On Saturday evening, October 15th from 7 PM – 10 PM, join MAPS and friends in New York City for an intimate dinner at the home of a gracious local MAPS supporter.
Following the dinner, the doors at nearby Oracle 113 Gallery will open for an after party with fine music, beer & wine, and extraordinary works of art. Capacity for this very special after party event is extremely limited, and will definitely sell out!

Finský útok Häkkinen – Metsätähti – Hänninen alias funkster Randy Barracuda, master Mesak a gangster Claws Costeau se sem vydává dokončit svojí podvratnou misi, kterou započali před pěti lety, během nichž do světa pod značkou Harmönia vypustili řadu konspiračních singlů, alb i kompilací, přičemž si časem dokázali vybudovat mezinárodní síť kolaborantů. Pokud se chcete přesvědčit, nakolik je tohle všechno jenom iluze, přijďte v pátek do Bubenské 1, kde jmenovaní rozezní svůj analogový arsenál. Snag the fresh MartyParty release through the widget above or the direct link below. And when I say “fresh” I mean less than an hour old. The Purple EP is a little taste of what we can expect from MartyParty’s full album debut set to be released on May 31st.
We featured the heavy hitting Superior EP release a few weeks ago on Glitch.CZ and we weren’t surprised to see it hit #1 on the iTunes electronic album charts soon after. The EP’s emphasis on heavy bass probably shook more than a few coffins over the past month. But Marty Party’s latest release, Purple EP, is a different beast entirely and it may leave a few bass lovers asking, “What gives?”
And that’s a good thing.
Fans already familiar with MartyParty’s previous releases, particularly on AN-TEN-NAE Presents and his collaboration with Ooah on the Pantyraid project will know that by no means is MartyParty a one trick pony. With the release of the Purple EP, this artist is showing us loud and clear that this isn’t just another “brostep” album, a pejorative term we’re unfortunately encountering more and more often these days.
If anything, the Purple EP is an indication that we can expect a solid and dynamic release when the full album drops at the end of the month. And if you’re still not convinced, make it out to one of MartyParty’s shows. I defy you not to dance.
“When I returned home from touring North American with The Monsters of Bass, I wanted to sit down and write a collection of songs that summed up the kinds of energy and emotion I found myself feeling and expressing to the audiences on tour every day,” states Marty. “This album touches on various forms of purple energy in a journey through the genre. The Purple album demonstrates the incredible range of this electronic genre and how it can express light and dark, turn from gentle to hard, but always delivers its message using only synthesized sounds.”

They’ve got Frances Sanders and Dima Berzon in the backseat creating live art to be projected on buildings around the city. Take a peak at a video sample of their art below. Godfather’s of Skweee was a success! And the video above was born from this monster of a party. You’ve got to admit that the scenic views of Prague at night are stunning. I’ve been told that the decision to shoot this was spontaneous and took place 30 minutes before the party started. Good call!
This Skweee party, co-organized by Glitch.CZ was a warm up for the full on Lunchmeat festival this weekend. More info to follow!

SKWEEE je analogové retro a zároveň funkový futurismus, vtipné lo-fi a zároveň experimentování na tisíce synťáků, malá scéna s velkým světovým ohlasem, který tenhle žánr dostal na slavný Sónar do Barceloně nebo po bok jmen jako Brian Eno, Hot Chip, apod. na technologicko-umělecký festival Yota Space v Petrohradu. Dění na skweee scéně se točí především okolo švédského labelu Flogsta Danshall a finského Harmönia, jejichž šéfové PAVAN a MESAK nám přijedou předvést své livesety, stejně jako další severský klasik JOXAREN, jeden z autorů filmu We Call It Skweee, který bude promítán na začátku večera. Zahrají také djs z party Glitch.cz – Noa?, tvprodukt a Denoir.
PAVAN aka LIMONIOUS
Frans Carlqvist je pravým pionýrem tohoto žánru a zakladatelem zásadního labelu Flogsta Danshall, na kterém vydává alba, kompilace i singly. Jeho tvorba živá vystoupení nesou kultovní status a inspirovaly většinu skweee producentů. Loňské album House of Usher (pod pseudonymem Limonious) následuje právě vydané Holy Volt, shrnující jeho syrovou produkci v letech 2003-2006.
MESAK
Finským protějškem Pavana je Tatu Metsätähti, zkušený finský producent, který se po letech úspěšného učinkování v electro projektu Mr. Velcro Fastener soustředil na sólo dráhu pod pseudonymem Mesak založil druhý ze dvou stěžejních skweee labelů – Harmönia. V loňském roce vydal své první skweee LP School of Mesak.
JOXAREN
I David Giese aka Joxaren má za sebou dlouholetou hudební praxi v různých žánrech – punku, dubu, hip hopu nebo electru, když odehral přes 500 živých vystoupení. Vedle hudební skweee tvorby (vydané především na Flogsta Danshall) natočil i dokument We Call It Skweee.
